Sun, Surf, and Snow. Oh.

by Bess on February 5, 2013

Yesterday I had one of those afternoons that is busy, but busy all with things you like to do.  As soon as I got back from work Maverick was just sitting by the front door so I knew he wanted to go on a walk.  I had just enough time to squeeze in a 1 mile walk with him before heading to the gym to complete Cupid’s Cardio on the elliptical (got 4 miles in on it) and 75 minutes of hot power vinyasa yoga after that.  It was my happy place :)

After my workouts, I grabbed a quick salad bar and piled so much into it for my dinner–and only half of it was eaten meaning the rest is my lunch today! Love when that happens.  In the mix was kale, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms, zucchini, beets, artichokes, quinoa, chickpeas, peppers, probably some other stuff that I’m forgetting, all topped with a drizzle of organic roasted red pepper dressing.

Also, sidenote, I don’t have a picture but I had the new Chobani pear flavor last night for dessert and it is amazingly delicious.

I recommend.

This morning I was up to get in 40 minutes of toning & cinching with the TIU Beach Babe Bikini Sculpt DVD.

It’s a full-body toning routine and it pretty much rocks.

I was feeling like a total beach babe, dreaming about the waves and the sunshine…ahh….

Snow.

Brr.

Not the beach.

Oh well.  Warmer weather will be here soon I suppose! Fingers crossed. I want to wear shorts and have tan skin like nobody’s business.

The closest thing I have to warm weather right now is hot yoga.  And I’ll be going again tonight.

Who else is with me?! Summer dreaming! :)

Summer is calling our names! Sand, surf, beach hair, and the smell of the ocean. A girl can dream and I’m dreaming hard right now. Yes that Chobani pear flavor is DELISH! Stay warm today…

That salad looks SOOO good!!! I am so ready for summer too – or at least spring!!

  3. I was just curious and by no means is this an insult or intended to be, but I notice you do a lot of exercising each day (way past the recommended amount) and I was just curious if you get burned out? I just ask this because I used to be addicted to exercising and it started affecting my sleep and immune system.

    • No offense taken. I always have plans for the week but when it comes down to it I go by the day and how I am feeling that day. One week I planned to get up every morning and work out before work but I knew I’d benefit from more sleep, so I cut out the morning workouts that week. It just depends. I think I avoid getting burned out by not forcing it if I’m not feeling it and taking days off when I feel like it. Since I played soccer my whole life, I am used to doing hours of exercise per day, so what seems normal and a recommended amount for some may be different for me. My body is used to it, and honestly intense cardio is what wears me out the most, so doing stuff like toning DVDs and yoga invigorates me more than anything, which is why I’ve tried to scale back the intense cardio to around only 1 day a week or so. Ellipticals let me sweat and move but aren’t so difficult on my body. Marathon training was SO hard on me and that definitely burned me out by the end and affected my sleep, I gained weight, etc. So, I don’t do much running anymore (HIIT workouts here and there but not really distance) and I’m feeling good. Hope this answers your question!

      • Thank you for this awesome reply! And for not taking offense – I never know how to approach these kind of comments (when you can’t see my face, ya know?). That’s a very good point about playing soccer and being used to hours of exercise at a time. I love your blog and you got me into the TIU girls, so I thank you for that. I hope you have a great week! :)

All I want is to wear shorts and be tan, too! And every time I do the TIU workouts, all I think about is the beach and bathing suits and summer. Sigh.

Cute outfit! I am in Florida and this morning it was 60 degrees- I thought it was freezing, guess I should be lucky that it’s not snowing. I tried the Chobani pear yesterday for the first time, and I agree, it’s really great!
