*GNC sent me the below products to review. All opinions are my own.*
Last month I received a package containing lots of goodies. Because of my role as a FitFluential Ambassador, GNC sent me some of their SafSlim and Total Lean products to try out and review. I really enjoyed my GNC protein powder review, so I was excited about this!
I was sent the Re-Body SafSlim Belly Fat Transformation in Delicious Tangerine Cream Fusion and the GNC Total Lean Lean Shakes in Swiss Chocolate and Strawberries & Cream, as well as the GNC Total Lean Breakfast Squares in Iced Cinnamon Bun and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip.
I’ll start with the SafSlim. The directions are to take a spoonful of the SafSlim twice a day, one in the morning and one in the evening, preferably before meals. I would take it first thing in the morning and then before I went to bed. The flavor was SO GOOD. Seriously, I looked forward to my spoonful because it was so yummy! Tasted like an orange creamsicle. The product description says this, from the website:
A revolutionary breakthrough in targeted belly fat science. SafSlim™, powered by SAFActive78™, is the first-ever solution to target unsightly and health-threatening OMENTUM fat, the fat that accumulates around the belly region.*
This patent-pending formula features a proprietary blend of non-GMO, expeller pressed, high-linoleic safflower oil. In a major university study on obese, diabetic women, the active ingredient in SafSlim significantly reduced belly fat – 6.3% on average – in just 16 weeks.*
This “belly fat omega” has been shown to activate hormones, such as adiponectin, to help mobilize stubborn dormant midsection fat, curb appetite and improve insulin sensitivity.*
Emulsified and “body-ready” for maximum absorption, SafSlim is the easiest and most effective way to transform your belly and ab flab… naturally.*

My testing of the product was going really great until Hurricane Sandy hit and knocked out our power. After opening the SafSlim you are supposed to refridgerate, and since we lost our power I didn’t trust to eat anything that may have gone bad in the week our fridge wasn’t cold. But I did get to take the SafSlim for almost two weeks before that happened, and in that time I definitely saw results. My tummy was definitely flatter and my ab definition was more prominent. I have also lost about 8 pounds since I completed my marathon on October 7th. I think I was bloated from eating more while running and just carrying a little more weight than usual. I’ve always quickly dropped weight when I stop intense exercise (I’d lose weight after every soccer season ended) so I can’t completely attribute the weight lost to the SafSlim, but I did definitely like how my belly was looking! I’m disappointed that Sandy ruined the rest of my stash.
I’d say that this product is definitely worth a try if you are trying to lose belly fat. It tastes good and from what I could tell, it works.
Now onto the Lean Shakes. These are awesome! Here is the product description, from the website:
Ready to Drink
- Heathly meal replacement or snack
- 25 grams of high quality protein
- 170 calories
- 24 vitamins and minerals
- Lactose Free
I have NEVER had a shake or drink that has ever filled me up and kept me satisfied. I was continuously shocked when these shakes would fill me up for hours at a time. I didn’t use it as a meal replacement, but definitely could have if I had needed or wanted to.
I loved the Swiss Chocolate flavor. Tasted just like chocolate milk to me, which also made it feel like a treat. The strawberries and cream flavor I didn’t *love* but also didn’t hate. I liked it enough that I could drink it fine but probably wouldn’t buy it on my own. It had a good strawberry taste but just a slightly chalky aftertaste in my opinion.
I would definitely recommend these if you are looking for a great Ready to Drink shake option. I can’t stop raving about how satisfied these left me and I wasn’t hungry for hours. Definitely a winner!
Lastly, the breakfast bars!
Both Mike and I tested these. We really liked both of the flavors and they were especially good in the microwave! Just heat them up a little bit for a treat. Especially the Iced Cinnamon Bun flavor…felt so wrong but was oh so healthy! These kept me full as well but not as much as the shake did. They come individually wrapped so it was easy to take them on the go or to just unwrap one to have at home. Each square has 12g of protein which is more than you’ll get in most protein bars, especially for only 170 calories. I like the nutrition stats. I’d recommend these are worth a try!
Overall I liked each of the products and would recommend them to anyone! I do believe the SafSlim works and the shakes and bars were both tasty and filling.
