I got three packages in the mail yesterday that I was super excited about. Two ended up being awesome and one really let me down.
1- Chobani special delivery! So excited to try out the new flavors. I LOVE pear and think it would be great on or in my Warmed Pear & Banana Protein Pancakes.

2- My clothes from Tobi! I did some shopping for my spring/summer wardrobe and I can’t wait for it to be warm out and to have a tan! I am loving the bright colors. These are two of the dresses that I got in my order:

If you’ve never shopped at Tobi you should! It’s 50% off your first order and 50% off anytime you invite 5 friends. Pretty sweet deal, really. If you want to use my invitation code to shop around, click here
SO much cute stuff. **FYI you have to connect your FB account for the discounts to work**
3- My Polar heart rate monitor. This was the one I was probably MOST excited about and the one that really let me down. After carefully following the setup instructions and trying to get it to work for over an hour, the thing refused to take my initial heart rate (meaning it wouldn’t take it during a workout either) and I was just so frustrated. It doesn’t work.

I don’t even know what I can do at this point. I ordered it on Amazon but inside the box it says “due to the personal nature of this product, once it has been used it cannot be returned”…but I’ve also heard they have a 2 year warranty. I just want mine to WORK, I was so excited to finally have one
Has anyone else ever had this problem? Boo.

I’ll be honest I really wanted to use my new HR watch to see how many calories I torch in hot yoga bootcamp (I KNOW it’s a lot but I wanna know how much!) and it totally put me in a bad mood that I didn’t work. I was in a pretty angry mood during the whole workout, like as if I was thinking if I couldn’t see the calories burned on the watch that they didn’t happen or something. Stupid, I know. I know I got a great workout in. Those bootcamps just keep getting harder!
I made myself some “comfort food” in the form of breakfast for dinner…protein pancake style.
Blueberry & strawberry stuffed protein pancakes with vanilla chobani and warmed dark cherries on top.

Made me feel a little better
And it’s Friday…yay!
Any helpful tips you may have regarding the HR monitor would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure ur chest is a little wet (like it would be with sweat during a workout) cause that allows the monitor to detect the signal. I bet you knew this but
Hope it starts working!
Hi Bess-
I just read about your heart rate monitor. I just bought the same one from City Sports on Wednesday and it works fine. I was going to order from Amazon, but on Tuesday afternoon when I looked, Amazon had a disclaimer posted that they cannot verify the quality of the product so they were not recommending the product. It’s not there anymore, but that’s why I went to the store to buy it…This isn’t super helpful, but it’s not you…you should see if you can contact someone at Polar. Good Luck!
wow that’s interesting. I definitely didn’t see a disclaimer or I would have thought twice! I never have a problem with things from Amazon. I’m hopefully going to be able to return it. Thanks for the note!!
that mint green dress is adorable!! Ugh I would be pissed about the hr monitor too, I hate when you get new things and they dont work! I hope you can fix it or get it fixed!
Wet the straps at te site of the sensors-that should help. I usually put it under the water fountain for a sec or 2 and then give it a quick wipe to get the water in
yeah I got it about as wet as I possibly could…didn’t seem to work. :/
Oh no about the heart monitor. Id email Amazon and explain. I have always found them to be helpful.
I am joining your bad mood.
At work I get corporate gym membership at the heath club next door (very lucky I know), but today, we have been turned away as our company has not paid the invoice (due to a dispute) so we are suffering. I really dont need this. After having lost 4 stone so far, and starting to struggle a little with old demons, the last thing I need is my gym membership taking away with another 2 stone still to go! Bah!!!!
oh no! I’m sorry to hear that :/ I hope that gets resolved in a positive way soon! In the meantime you can do some of the at-home workouts I have on my blog or Tone It Up has lots of great workout videos on their youtube channel!! I hope that helps a little!
Those dresses are amazing, and now I’m going to be spending the rest of my lunch break poking around and wishing it weren’t snowing outside. So sorry about the heart rate monitor! That’s the worst when you’re so excited about something and it tanks. Maybe you can take it in to a local specialty tore and see if they can at least help you troubleshoot? They might also be able to contact Polar faster than you. I know the running store I work at sometimes does that with Garmins that people don’t necessarily buy there!
Thanks! yeah I was thinking of taking it into the local running company here but luckily Amazon agreed to a refund (it wasn’t actually amazon, it was a 3rd party seller through Amazon) so I’m going to send it back. If I get another I’ll go to a store here so they can help me!
Sorry to hear that. Sometimes just tightening it a little works for me — make sure it’s snug around your ribcage. Good luck!
That is so frustrating about your heart rate monitor! That would make me really mad! I hope you can get it to work, or get a replacement!
Isn’t it amazing how easily technology can piss you off? I’m one of those people where technology never seems to work for me on the first try… if it doesn’t work the first time you use it, that “return” policy is invalid. Raise hell!
Also, love those maxi dresses!
I got my Polar from Amazon in October of 2011 and it worked perfectly until it needed a new battery last month, which Polar was more than happy to fix and send back to me within a week! They honored a 2 year warranty and I just paid for the battery and shipping. They are helpful, but based on what you said about the calories.. it seriously warps your mind. I basically didnt work out the 2 weeks i didnt have it because in my mind it “didnt count”?!?! I mean, I was sick too but still.. the thought was in my mind! haha ive only worn mine during Vinyasa once because i was curious but it was uncomfortable around my wrist during most of the poses. Those dresses are ADORABLE!
Sucks that it didn’t work! But my only advice is to not get too caught up in how many calories you’re burning. It’s not like you have any weight to lose! I know from experience that it’s easy to get a little obsessive about calorie-burning, and it can escalate pretty quickly into over-exercising and fixation on calories. So please be careful.
p.s. those dresses look so nice! they’ll look so good on you with your tanned skin tone and gorgeous long hair.
